This Turkey photo is my favorite one so far. I had to be very patient to get this shot. I watched a small
group of
Turkeys from a distance to figure out which direction they were heading towards. Once I figured out which
way
I thought they would tend towards, I found a good spot and laid down on the grass with the end of my
telephoto lens propped up on my camera bag.
I stayed quiet, observing them from a distance and waiting for them to approach. They were completely
relaxed as they forged for food in the grass. Some even laid down and closed their eyes for a few minutes,
or stretched out their legs and wings like a cat.
After some time they started to walk right near me. They seemed completely unaware/uncaring of my presence
as they came near. I began to shoot photos of them as they ate and rested without drawing their attention.
However, as this Turkey pictured drew very near, he noticed the sound of my shutter and stopped to observe
me. Once his head was pointing to the side, I took the opportunity to take the shot.
Here's a bonus photo of the turkey observing me after he heard my shutter fire.
